#3 Hunter Breeding Sire for 2011
Apiro is the complete package and the chrome is just icing on the cake. Not only does he have the qualities to be a top working hunter, but he has the athletic ability, gaits and conformation, stunning beauty, and incredible rideability with the pedigree to back it up, making him a very special breeding stallion for sport horse disciplines. Most importantly, he stamps his offspring with these qualities.
Apiro is a son of the legendary, Argentinus, who for an amazing seven years led the FN statistics of his age group for the prize money earned by his progeny with offspring competing at the international levels in both dressage and jumping. A successful advanced level showjumper himself, Argentinus sired 28 approved sons, 48 State Premium mares, and became Germany's youngest millionaire based on money won by his progeny. He was renowned for passing on his willing temperament to his offspring. Apiro's dam, the State Premium mare Pyrah H, is a strong producer of sporthorses including the showjumpers Perle, Pandora, and Power Girl, Rocci Balboa who has been successful in the young dressage horse classes, and the State Premium mare, Airline. She also produced the approved stallion, River Phonix, who won the Bavarian Championships and placed in the Bundeschampionat. Pyrah H is by the exceptional jumper sire, Pilot, who was the first showjumping stallion with progeny to earn one million deutschmarks. His second dam, Ceda H, is by the Cyklon son, Cyrus. The Hanoverian-based Trakehner, Cyklon, established a good jumper line and was a superior sporthorse sire.
Apiro was Reserve Champion of his 30-day test in 2004 with an 8.51 overall and an 8.86 for jumping and a 7.99 for dressage. Apiro qualified for the 5 year old Bundeschampionat in 2005. In Germany, he participated in stallion expos, jumping 1.60 meters. In 2007, he was the USDF Mid-States Region Champion Mature Stallion with scores to 87.4%. Apiro competed successfully in the working hunter ring winning tri-colors his first time out. He is currently competing in the Amateur Owner hunters with Summer Stoffel. In 2009, Apiro was awarded Elite status and approval with the American Hanoverian Society with 9s for his head and jump and 8s for his neck, conformation, type, walk, and overall impression.
Apiro's foal crops in Germany include the filly, Avril, who was 6th in the 2005 Luxembourg Foal Championships and Apira, winner of the Southern Germany Free Jumping Championships and awarded Elite/Premium mare status. Son, Apyro, was imported to the US by Silver Creek Farms and is consistently winning tri-colors in the Pregreen hunters. Apiro's first stallion son, Apiro's Boy, was approved in Germany in 2008. His first North American foal crop arrived in 2008 and his offspring are already showing the quality necessary to win on the line in addition to being quality sporthorse prospects. In 2008, Apiro's foals all received Gold Premium awards with RPSI. Silver Creek's After Burn, was Reserve Best Young Horse at the 2009 Mid-west International Hunter Futurity. Apiro's foals continue to earn top marks at their foal inspections with judges consistently remarking on their lovely head and neck, movement through the whole body, good push from the hind leg, and improvement of the dam, etc.
