Mr. Wizard is one of a small number of remaining direct M-Line Holsteiner stallions. He is a decendent of the Thoroughbred improvement sire, Marlon, brought into the holsteiners to modernize the breed in the sixty`s and seventy`s. Marlon was a top producer of event horses in those decades. M-Line horses, and Merano offspring specifically, have also been successful in dressage, jumpers, and hunters. The 1996 individual olympic silver medalist and team silver medalist in 2000 in jumping, Calvaro V, is out of a Merano mare. Mr. Wizard`s get are athletic, forward thinking, and good moving horses. He has produced some very successful event horses as well as jumpers and dressage horses. His foals have good trainability and very sweet dispositions. They are generous, intelligent horses who enjoy work and competing. Wizard has been consistently ranked on the USEF leading sires list for eventing with son Ben, competing at the CCI*** level with Phillip Dutton. Ben made a meteoric rise through the levels when he went from Novice to CCI*** level in well under two years earning top ribbons along the way. Also watch out for son, Merlot 325, beginning his event career. He earned a runaway win at his first Novice event last fall and we expect much more from him in the future.
Mr. Wizard has produced numerous premium foals and mares in the AHHA approvals. In 2009 his mare, U-Turn, earned a perfect 10 in the free jumping and under saddle jumping for willingness along with 9`s for scope and technique. She finished with premium status and a final mare performance test score of 83%. She has gone on to be a mini prix winner and YJC competitor. Wizard has also produced several other offspring competing in eventing at the higher levels as well as some in dressage.
Mr. Wizard competed successfully in eventing and hunters until an injury cut his career short. While eventing, he was rarely out of the top three after the dressage phase and was a very careful jumper with super techinque and scope. His short career in the hunters resulted in championship honors as well.
